Bulb with brown papery tunic, not forming a fibrous sheath, without thickened roots. Whole plant glabrous. Basal leaf 1, linear, to 1 mm broad, flat, c. equalling inflorescence, often absent on flowering plants. Inflorescence 5-12 cm, usually much branched, wiry. Cauline leaves many, lowest narrowly lanceolate, 3-8 x 0.4-0.6 cm, the rest shorter and narrower with a group of 2-6 leafy bulbils in their axils. Flower 1, terminal, or sometimes absent and replaced by bulbils. Perianth segments pale yellow, oblanceolate, 5-8 x 1-2 mm, obtuse. Capsule not known. Fl 4-5.
